Lenten Devotionals Week Four

Week four of Lent will explain the importance of Confession during Lent.

With Lent being a season of conversion, and one of the greatest means of conversion being confession, it is only natural to put the two together.

Two of the greatest saints in the last two centuries, Saint Pio of Pietrelcina and St. John Vianney, spent a large portion of their lives hearing confessions. It is with this sacrament that Christ offers mercy to sinners and a way to restore grace in their hearts.

Joel 2: 12-13 reads:
12 Yet even now, oracle of the Lord, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
13 Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the Lord, your God, For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and relenting in punishment.

Christ suffered and died for our sins in His Passion and then resurrected on Easter Sunday. We go to the cross in the confessional, and rise again renewed after confessing our sins.

Have you gone to Confessions this Lent?
